Construction Equipment

Heavy equipment is essential for construction jobs of almost any size.

Earth-moving equipment covers a broad range of machines that can excavate and grade soil and rock, along with other jobs.

Excavator

Excavators

Excavators are used to dig in the ground or to move large objects. At the base of the machine, it usually has two tracks to move it. Excavators can be driven by tracks or wheels.

A conventional excavator has a long bucket arm attached to a pivoting cab that can rotate a full 360 degrees. The operator sits in the cab and from there has good visibility of the site.

Excavators are highly versatile and can be fitted with special attachments for specialty jobs.

Front End Loader

Front End Loaders

A loader is used to move aside or load materials such as asphalt, demolition debris, dirt, snow, feed, gravel, logs, raw minerals, recycled material, rock, sand, woodchips, etc. into or onto another type of machinery (such as a dump truck, conveyor belt, feed-hopper, or railroad car).

There are many types of loader, which, depending on design and application, are called by various names, including bucket loader, front loader, front-end loader, payloader, scoop, shovel, skip loader, wheel loader, or skid-steer.

Backhoe Loader

Backhoe Loaders

Backhoe loaders, often called backhoes, have a body that's similar to a farm tractor and include an adjustable shovel in front and a small bucket in the back for digging.

Backhoe loaders are considered medium-sized construction equipment for smaller jobs and are capable of working in limited space to perform various operations.

Bulldozer

Bulldozers

Bulldozers are considered one of the strongest and most reliable heavy equipment used in the construction industry.

A bulldozer is a powerful and extremely heavy machine used to move dirt along large open tracts of land. Bulldozers have a wide, flat blade in front that can be operated using two hydraulic pistons to move the blade in a limited range of angles and depths.

Dump Truck

Dump Trucks

Dump trucks are needed on almost every large job site. They offer limited function but perform the all-important task of moving and dumping many types of heavy material.

They are also road-ready so they can bring material into or out of site and can travel anywhere large equipment is permitted. Dump trucks come in many different sizes for different capacity and load needs, ranging from small utility-type trucks with dumping beds to enormous machines used in mining operations.

Compactor

Compactors

A compactor is a machine or mechanism used to reduce the size of material such as waste material or bio mass through compaction.

Normally powered by hydraulics, compactors take many shapes and sizes. In landfill sites for example, a large tractor with spiked steel wheels called a landfill compactor is used to drive over waste deposited by waste collection vehicles.

Telescopic Handler

Telescopic Handlers

A telescopic handler, also called a telehandler, is a machine widely used in agriculture and industry.

It is somewhat like a forklift but has a boom (Telescopic cylinder), making it more a crane than a forklift, with the increased versatility of a single telescopic or articulating boom that can extend forwards and upwards from the vehicle

Pile Driver

Pile Drivers

Pile boring equipment is used to make bore holes in the construction site to install precast piles.

Different types of pile driving equipment are available namely, piling rigs, piling hammer, hammer guides etc. in any case the pile is driven into the ground by hammering the pile top which is done hydraulically or by dropping.

Concrete Mixer Truck

Concrete Mixer Trucks

Special concrete transport trucks (in-transit mixers) are made to mix concrete and transport it to the construction site.

They can be charged with dry materials and water, with the mixing occurring during transport. They can also be loaded from a "central mix" plant; with this process the material has already been mixed prior to loading.

Crane Truck

Crane Trucks

A hydraulic crane is a type of heavy-duty equipment used for lifting and hoisting.

An internal hydraulic system allows the crane to lift heavier loads and enables the crane to transport objects such as heavy shipping containers and tractor trailers, which are well beyond the size and scope of any other lifting device.
